Origin of share

Why, What, When, and How?

Large waves of Indians particularly professionals like doctors and engineers started migrating in large numbers to USA in 1960-70. Although some dreamt of going back to India many cherished the desire to help their mother land. Five Indian scientists (Founders) living in Pittsburgh founded SHARE, a non-profit organization- to mobilise ‘the desire’ into tangible action. It embodied spirit of sharing and promotion of Science Health Allied Research and Education, particularly in developing nations. SHARE was registered on April 13, 1981 to establish Medical Science City in India -MediCiti. More than 150 professionals mostly physicians, have donated more than 3 million dollars for the cause.

In order to implement its plans in India it has to register two non-profit societies -SHARE INDIA and SHARE MEICAL CARE- in India. SHARE INDIA is registered as a Research foundation, whereas SHARE MEDICAL CARE as a society for promoting mostly education and service. SHARE MEDICAL CARE established MediCiti Hosiptal and Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) in Ghanpur village, Medchal Mandal, Telangana state, 30 KM from the center of Hyderabad. SHARE (usa) has been consistently supporting over the years activities of SHARE MEDICAL CARE and SHARE INDIA. It promoted student exchange programs and collaborative research between University of Pittsburgh and SHARE INDIA and MIMS. SHARE INDIA’s one of the primary objective is to foster creative environment at MIMS in which a student or faculty member with an average mind can be inventive.

Nature has created a divided world of those who have the capacity to give and those who have the need to receive. We are the lucky few who are blessed with the capacity to give rather than receive. Let us thank God for giving the capacity and opportunity to give by giving.
